Since February 2016, IOM Niger has been carrying out flow monitoring of migrants at two points in Niger in the region of Agadez. 8,424 incoming individuals were observed in FMPs and 6,524 outgoing individuals were observed in FMPs during the month of January.
The site profile was conducted for a camp in the town of Mutimbuzi, Rural Bujumbura. 958 IDPs comprising 102 households were present at the camp during the period of survey. There was one functional water service on site which could provide 20 liters of water per person per day.
IOM profiled 840 individuals (224 households) among whom were 223 children under the age of five years in seven villages in its surroundings and 16 neighbourhoods within Ndélé. 44% of the displaced population were returnees from Chad whilst 14% came from Bria and Bambari.
DTM identified 26,868 IDP families comprised of 161,208 individuals. The majority of the identified individuals (126,126) originated from Mosul. 134,802 people were living in camps/emergency settings and 24,600 people were living in private settings.
Between 12—19 January 1,886 individuals were observed crossing the border into Haitian territory.
DTM recorded a cumulative total of 187,986 IDP’s and 28,980 returnees within this period. 98% of the IDPs are displaced within the district of Ninewa. 71% are in emergency camps, 15% are in private accommodation, 13% are at emergency sites.
Currently over 119,000 people are seeking protection in this site. Humanitarian partners and UNMISS are working together with the community to improve the living condition in the PoC area.
Cumulatively from the first week of June 2015 to 26 January 2017, 101,893 households representing 168,810 individuals have crossed the border into Haitian territory. 33.9% were female while 66.1% were male. 2,744 presumed unaccompanied minors were identified.
As of 15 January 2017, the total number of IDPs in the UN Mission in South Sudan’s Protection of Civilians (PoC) site in Bentiu was 120,079 individuals. The first round January 2017 population count was held in Bentiu PoC from 13 to 15 January 2017.

DTM identified 26,710 IDP families comprised of 160,260 individuals. The majority of the identified individuals (127,452) originated from Mosul. 135,720 people were living in camps/emergency settings and 22,794 people were living in private settings.
Currently 26,488 families remain displaced (158,928 individuals). 3,882 families (32,292 individual IDPs) have returned. Between the updates of 12 and 19 January, Mosul district recorded an increase of 28% in the number of IDPs.

Within the covered period, the total number of identified IDPs decreased by 2%, i.e. by 68,142 individuals. Despite the general decrease in the number of IDPs due to ongoing return movements, two governorates recorded a remarkable increase in identified IDPs (Ninewa +10% and Salah al-Din +3%).
