Established in 1951, IOM/The UN Migration Agency is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. Context:

Regional Office in Vienna is one of nine IOM Regional Offices worldwide and is tasked with providing strategic guidance and programmatic, administrative and technical support to IOM missions in South-Eastern Europe, including Turkey, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. It is responsible for project review and endorsement, policy development and also for formulating regional migration strategies. This is done in partnership with governments, development partners and civil society organizations within the region. The Regional Office employs technical experts in project development and thematic fields of migration management, including Migrant Assistance, Labour Migration and Human Development, Immigration and Border Management, Operations and Emergency, as well as Migration Health. It also deals with various cross-cutting issues and provides support in the field of resource management. 

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Under the direct supervision of Regional Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) officer andthe overall supervision of the DOE Regional Thematic Specialist (RTS), the candidate will beproviding support and contributing to implementation of DTM program in the context of themixed migration flows to Europe. Tasks will include:

  1. Support the capturing, storing and analysis of DTM data received from IOM´s field offices in coordination with the Regional DTM Team and the Global DTM team inHQ;
  2. Assist with the production of written outputs and various information products(monthly/quarterly statistical reports, info-sheets, presentations, internal briefs, summary/overviews in response to specific requests) based on DTM flow monitoring data and other available, relevant sources;
  3. Ensure timely flow of data from the field missions/country offices into the internal database/data management system to maintain the prescribed dynamic of portal updates;
  4. Assist with compilation of materials as part of the interagency work facilitated through Interagency Information Management Working Group on Europe (co-chaired by IOM, UNHCR and UNICEF) and participate in monthly meetings and other interagency events in coordination with the Regional DTM Officer;5. Assist in identifying changes in trends, in coordination with country focal points and regional team and ensure their reflection in DTM products.
  5. Report on performed activities in the monthly DOE activity report, in compliance with the internal RO Vienna reporting structure.
  6. Perform such duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • University Degree in Economy, Social Sciences, Human Rights.
  • IT proficiency (InDesign, PowerBi, GIS) will be considered as an advantage.
  • Duration: 3-6 months

 

Languages

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Russian or Arabic will be considered as an asset.
