Summary
In March 2017, there were approximately 3.2 million foreign nationals present in Turkish territory seeking international protection. Most of them were Syrians (2,969,669 individuals) who were granted temporary protection status. Of these 71% (2,714,330 individuals) were living in urban settings and 7% (255,339 individuals) were living in camps. In addition, there were 530,606 foreign nationals with residency permit status including those granted humanitarian residence status.
