652 undocumented Afghan individuals returned to Afghanistan through the Chaman/Spin Boldak border crossing whilst 583 individuals used the Torkham border crossing, bringing the total number of returns this week to 1,235 (221 families). The total number of undocumented Afghans that returned spontaneously to Afghanistan since 1 January 2018 through Torkham and Chaman now stands at 16,160 (excluding deportations). In comparison, during the same reporting period last year (1 January – 30 June 2017) a total of 58,704 Undocumented Afghans returned spontaneously to Afghanistan. Out of the total number of returns during the present reporting period, 54% returnees were female whereas 46% were male. The top 5 destination provinces for returns are: Kabul (24%), Nangarhar (22%), Kandahar (18%), Kunduz (9%), and Helmand (4%). The largest proportion of returns is from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (42%), followed by Baluchistan (36%), Sindh (14%), and Punjab (8%) and the majority of the respondents were male while 29% of the respondents were female.
