Summary

A total of 18,329 undocumented Afghans spontaneously returned or were deported from Iran through the Milak (Nimroz) and Herat (Islam Qala) border crossings between 12 and 18 August 2018, 20% less than in the previous week (23,008). In the case of returnees from Pakistan, a total of 563 undocumented Afghans spontaneously returned or were deported from Pakistan through the Turkham (Nangarhar) and Spin Boldak (Kandahar) border crossings during the reporting period, according to the Border Monitoring Team of the Directorate of Refugees and Repatriation (DoRR). This number marks an 11% decrease compared to the previous week (631). So far in 2018, 22,007 returns from Pakistan and 483,681 returns from Iran were recorded. 74% of returnees from Pakistan (416 individuals) were assisted, while 4% of returnees from Iran (744 individuals) received assistance.
