Operations

As of 7 August 2020, the cumulative total of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Sudan stands at 2,472 with 47 deaths and 1,252 recoveries according to the Republic of South Sudan’s Ministry of Health. The country has administered 15,393 tests to date.

In July 2020, the monthly population count was conducted at Masna collective centre where 5,496 individuals were identified and Wau PoC AA with 9,393 individuals. The population of Wau PoC AA marginally decreased from 9,990 individuals in June 2020 (decreased by 597 individuals).

Renk County of Upper Nile State recorded heavy and persistent rainfall throughout late July and early August 2020.

Severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall in Unity State caused temporary displacement and disruption in service provision to more than 4,702 individuals (608 households).

On 20 and 21 August 2020, clashes between NAS and SSPSF forces in Juba and Lainya Counties led to the displacement of people living in the surrounding areas.

DTM’s Flow Monitoring Registry (FMR) surveys people on the move at key transit points within South Sudan (SSD) and at its borders.

On 8 July 2020, IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix conducted Event Tracking through direct field visits, and observations to collect information on locations of displacement, assistance needed, and households affected by armed attacks suspected to have been waged by armed Murle youth groups.

As of 12 July 2020, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases in South Sudan stands at 2,148 with 41 confirmed deaths and 1,135 recoveries while a total of 11,862 tests have been carried out. 
 

Over the years, Uganda has increasingly faced climate change and environmental related problems with the mountainous sub regions of Rwenzori and Elgon being the most hit.

As of May 2020, DTM in the region tracked 6.3M Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and 2.9M Returnees, as reported during the last round of DTM assessments for each country, or through secondary data sources.

As per June 2020 population count findings, Bentiu PoC site's  population stands at 99,052 individuals (15,501 households) in 11,858 inhabited shelters (on average 8 individuals per shelter).

IOM’s biometric registration system has been active since 2014 with 943 283 beneficiaries active in its database to date, out of which 56 per cent (528,659 individuals) are female and 59 per cent (558,429 individuals) are under 18 years old.

In June 2020 the monthly population count was conducted at Masna collective centre where 6,016 individuals were identified and Wau PoC AA with 9 990 individuals. The population of Wau PoC AA marginally increased from 9 ,956 individuals in May 2020 (increase by 49 individuals).

The DTM has identified 136,610 internally displaced persons (IDPs) and 29,384 households in the month of June 2020.

En date du 19 April et 1 Mai 2020, la province de Bujumbura Rural, commune de Mutimbuzi, zone de Gatumba a été touchée par des fortes inondations qui ont affecté plus de 45,000 personnes inclues 17,792 déplacés.

IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix conducted 4,583 interviews representing 12,009 individual movements into and out of Bentiu Protection of Civilian (PoC) site, Malakal PoC site, Wau PoC Adjacent Area (AA) and Wau Masna collective centre in May 2020.
