Displacement.iom.int is an IOM online platform designed to enhance access to Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) information products on internal displacement, including a visualization of the scale of displacement monitored by IOM. A second complementary platform by DTM, flow.iom.int, intends to visualise population flows. Each platform is designed to facilitate a better understanding of displacement and mobility trends within and between countries or regions.  

Mobility tracking aims to quantify the presence of population categories within defined locations, with a frequency that captures mobility dynamics. Its approach is highly customizable: it can be light-touch or in-depth depending on the phase and requirements of the response, and it often increases in depth and detail over successive rounds. The online platform visualises mobility tracking data collected through baseline area assessments.

Baseline area assessments provide information on the presence of internally displaced populations in a defined administrative area, their reason and date of displacement and their shelter situation. Once a baseline or a list of locations hosting displaced populations has been identified, further location and/or site assessments are conducted to gather multi-layer and multi-themed data on the displaced groups. The objective of the location/site assessments is to collect in-depth data on the living conditions and needs of populations. This may include populations in camp and camp-like settings, or populations residing within host communities and/or areas of return of the observed population of concern.

In March 2017, a total of 71,984 individuals were registered in Golo, of which 54,362 individuals are returnees and 17,586 are IDPs. 63 % of the registered caseload are under 18 years old, of which 30 % are under 5 years old. 

From 2 February to 2 March 2017 DTM was active in 18 governorates across 106 districts and 3,660 locations. A total of 9,500 key informants were interviewed. The total number of identified IDPs increased by 1% (32,802 individual).

In 2016, a total of 691,581 undocumented Afghans returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan (248,054) and Iran (443,527). This is a 4% overall increase from 2015 (663,295 returns from Pakistan and Iran).

DTM recorded 224,298 IDPs comprising 37,383 families. Of these 189,336 individuals were living in camps and emergency settings. The most commonly cited district of origin was Mosul (190,074 individuals).

The Governorate Monitoring Sheets are a side-product of the ongoing work and internal procedures conducted by IOM DTM and can be used to examine the changes in population movement. The figures represented will not be officially endorsed by the Yemen HCT.

As of 01 February 2017, the TFPM has identified, 1,991 ,340 internally displaced persons (IDPs) (331,890 households) who have been displaced due to conflict since March 2015, dispersed across 21 governorates.

DTM recorded 465,198 individuals comprising 77,533 families.

DTM Burundi recorded 61,784 individuals comprising 13,210 families during the period covered. Of these 19% were children, 10% were elderly and 5% were pregnant women. These DTM statistics covered the 3 provinces of Bubanza, Cankuzo and Gitega.

DTM recorded 37,383 families comprised of 224,298 individuals. Ninewa governorate hosted the largest number of IDPs (210,750 individuals) and Baghdad governorate hosted the second largest number of IDPs (10,440 individuals).  

The cumulative total of IDPs recorded by DTM during this period was 225,708 individuals comprising 42,618 families. Of these 191,826 individuals (comprising 31,971 families) are still displaced. 123,078 people are currently residing in emergency camps.

The cumulative total of IDPs recorded by DTM during this period was 283,674 individuals comprising 42,279 families. Of these, 215,142 individuals (comprising 35,857 families) are still displaced. 141,504 people are currently residing in emergency camps.

DTM recorded 215,142 IDPs comprising 35,857 families. Of these, 180,858 reported that their district of origin was Mosul. The highest number of IDPs was recorded in Ninewa governorate, 198,282 individuals (94% of the total). 180,180 individuals were recorded living in camps and emergency sites.

Cumulatively since the first week of June 2015 to 9 March 2017, 107,914 households representing 177,304 individuals have crossed the border into Haitian territory. 33.7% were female while 66.3% were male. 2,892 presumed unaccompanied minors were identified.

This snapshot includes information on numbers, displacement reasons and needs from IDPs in eight local government areas (LGAs). 3,945 IDPs (734 households) were displaced due to recent attacks in Chibok. The largest numbers are in the main Chibok town (Garu, Likama and Whumtaku wards).

DTM Identified 446,808 individuals comprising 74,468 families. The highest number of displaced were recorded in the Mosul operation (206,520 IDPs), in which the most originated from Mosul itself (172, 260).

DTM recorded 211,572 IDPs comprising 35,262 families. Of these, 177,312 reported that their district of origin was Mosul. The highest number of IDPs was recorded in Ninewa governorate, 198,282 individuals (94% of the total). 176,868 individuals were recorded living in camps and emergency sites.

IDPs continue to arrive to Wau from insecure areas. It is the most congested PoC site in South Sudan with 30,054 IDPs on just 134,514m2 of land. IOM camp management prioritized the de-congestion of the site to improve living conditions and reduce fire safety risks.

This dashboard contains information on damage to shelter sites and churches in four different neighbourhoods (quartiers) following the events of 7 February 2017. 

En mars, DTM a enregistré 297,670 individus (51,336 ménages) déplacés dont 223,642 IDPs et 30,593 réfugiées non-enregistrés. 

Population identifiée par la DTM en Mars 2017 dans l’Extrême-Nord du Cameroun : 223 642 personnes déplacées internes (39 002 ménages), 30 593 réfugiés non enregistrés (4 987 ménages) et 43 435 retournés (7 347 ménages).
