Displacement.iom.int is an IOM online platform designed to enhance access to Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) information products on internal displacement, including a visualization of the scale of displacement monitored by IOM. A second complementary platform by DTM, flow.iom.int, intends to visualise population flows. Each platform is designed to facilitate a better understanding of displacement and mobility trends within and between countries or regions.  

Mobility tracking aims to quantify the presence of population categories within defined locations, with a frequency that captures mobility dynamics. Its approach is highly customizable: it can be light-touch or in-depth depending on the phase and requirements of the response, and it often increases in depth and detail over successive rounds. The online platform visualises mobility tracking data collected through baseline area assessments.

Baseline area assessments provide information on the presence of internally displaced populations in a defined administrative area, their reason and date of displacement and their shelter situation. Once a baseline or a list of locations hosting displaced populations has been identified, further location and/or site assessments are conducted to gather multi-layer and multi-themed data on the displaced groups. The objective of the location/site assessments is to collect in-depth data on the living conditions and needs of populations. This may include populations in camp and camp-like settings, or populations residing within host communities and/or areas of return of the observed population of concern.

IOM conducted a population headcount from 8-10 March which resulted in a total of 21,129 individuals or 3,458 households currently staying in Abrouc of which 15,000 individuals are estimated to have come from Wau Shilluk and the remaining 6,000 individuals from the host community of Abrouc and ID

DTM recorded 47,670 IDP families comprised of 286,020 individuals. The governorate hosting the largest number of IDPs was Ninewa where 266,808 IDPS were recorded. The most commonly reported district of origin amongst IDPs was Mosul with 251,544 IDPs coming from there.

DTM recorded 46,504 IDP families comprised of 279,024 individuals. The governorate hosting the largest number of IDPs was Ninewa where 261,228 IDPS were recorded, this represents 94% of the total.

Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have been sheltering at the Bentiu protection of civilian site (PoC) since December 2013. There are currently 117,654 IDPs seeking protection in the site.

The cumulative total of IDPs recorded by DTM during this period was 350,142 individuals comprising 58,357 families. Of these 273,720 individuals (comprising 45,620 families) are still displaced. 161,412 people are currently residing in emergency camps.

There are currently over 117,600 people (20,861 households) seeking protection at Bentiu Protection of Civilian (PoC) site. Current priority needs are registration of new arrivals, verification of IDPs in the PoC and an increase in water provision.

DTM recorded 273,720 IDPs comprising 45,620 families. Of these, 239,496 reported that their district of origin was Mosul. The highest number of IDPs was recorded in Ninewa governorate, 255,924 individuals (93% of the total). 323,554 individuals were recorded living in camps and emergency sites.

IOM conducted a biometric verification exercise in Malakal Protection of Civilian (PoC) site from 15 to 28 February 2017. A total of 30,559 individuals / 10,300 households were verified.

This snapshot includes information on numbers, displacement reasons and needs from IDPs in five local government areas (LGAs): Gwoza, Kala Balge, Bama, Ngala and Dikwa. The largest numbers of IDPs are in Kala Balge LGA: there are currently 3,070 IDPs (614 households) due to military operations.

In 2016, DTM South Sudan has reached and registered 508,143 people across South Sudan. Biometric registration reached 439,715 persons in 19 locations. Paper based registrations reached 68,428 persons in 12 locations.

The total number of people currently displaced, as of 19 March 2017, is 270,546 individual IDPs comprising 45,091 families. During the period covered 229,896 people were living in camps and emergency settings.

As of 17 March 2017 there were 6,334 displaced persons in 5 regions across Madagascar. In total there have been approximately 250,000 persons displaced since the onset of the disaster at the beginning of the month.

DTM Identified 504,582 individuals comprising 84,097 families. The highest number of displaced were recorded in the Mosul operation (260,616 IDPs), in which the most originated from Mosul itself (226,602).

The total number of people currently displaced, as of 19 March 2017, is 260,616 individual IDPs comprising 43,436 families. During the period covered 222,030 people were living in camps and emergency settings. Ninewa governorate currently hosts the most IDPs, 245,190 individuals.

The total number of people currently still displaced, as of 16 March 2017, is 254,880 individual IDPs comprising 42,480 families. The total number of people displaced since 17 October 2016 is 326,754 individuals. 158,016 people were living in camps and emergency settings.
