Displacement.iom.int is an IOM online platform designed to enhance access to Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) information products on internal displacement, including a visualization of the scale of displacement monitored by IOM. A second complementary platform by DTM, flow.iom.int, intends to visualise population flows. Each platform is designed to facilitate a better understanding of displacement and mobility trends within and between countries or regions.  

Mobility tracking aims to quantify the presence of population categories within defined locations, with a frequency that captures mobility dynamics. Its approach is highly customizable: it can be light-touch or in-depth depending on the phase and requirements of the response, and it often increases in depth and detail over successive rounds. The online platform visualises mobility tracking data collected through baseline area assessments.

Baseline area assessments provide information on the presence of internally displaced populations in a defined administrative area, their reason and date of displacement and their shelter situation. Once a baseline or a list of locations hosting displaced populations has been identified, further location and/or site assessments are conducted to gather multi-layer and multi-themed data on the displaced groups. The objective of the location/site assessments is to collect in-depth data on the living conditions and needs of populations. This may include populations in camp and camp-like settings, or populations residing within host communities and/or areas of return of the observed population of concern.

The IOM DTM team in partnership with WFP conducted a biometric registration in Panyijar County, Unity from 13 February - 16 April 2017 to record accurate cross-sectional data that better reflects the reality on the ground in areas of high humanitarian needs.

On 27 April, SPLA forces advanced on Kodok. The attack has led to further displacement in the area, pushing a large number of people toward Abruoc. This displacement will add to the numbers that had been arriving following SPLA operations in Panyikang earlier in April.

DTM recorded 59,875 IDP families comprised of 359,250individuals. The majority of recorded IDPs originated from Mosul District (324,828 individuals). Most IDPs are living in camps or emergency sites (309,702 individuals).

The cumulative total of IDPs recorded by DTM during this period was 473,280 individuals comprising 78,880 families. Of these, 359,250 individuals (comprising 59,875 families) are still displaced. 214,872 people are currently residing in emergency camps (60%).

Relief agencies continue to provide assistance to new arrivals at existing displacement sites since population influxes following the outbreak of violence on April 10.

DTM recorded 59,735 IDP families comprised of 258,410 individuals. The majority of recorded IDPs originated from Mosul District (323,982 individuals). Most IDPs are living in camps or emergency sites (309,492 individuals).

Clashes around Tamnhnt airport base began in early April 2017 and have been ongoing until the time of publication. DTM conducted a rapid assessment in the affected areas to determine the impact of the clashes on populations residing in the area.

DTM recorded 98,488 IDP families comprised of 568,446 Individuals. The majority of IDPs were residing in Camps (374,034 individuals).

DTM has identified 1,884,331 displaced individuals. 35% of IDPs dwell in camps or camp-like settings. 65% of all individuals are in host community settings. 79.5% are women and children. 28.3% are children under five years. 69% of people surveyed cited food as an unmet need.

As of 01 April 2017, the TFPM has identified, 1,988,946 internally displaced persons (IDPs) (331,491 households) who have been displaced due to conflict since March 2015, dispersed across 21 governorates. For the

The cumulative total of IDPs recorded by DTM during this period was 441,720 individuals comprising 73,630 families. Of these 336,288 individuals (comprising 56,048 families) are still displaced. 210,802 people are currently residing in emergency camps.

Assessments identified an estimated 132,138 undocumented Myanmar nationals (UMNs) in 23,844 households in three makeshift settlements and 41 host community locations in two upazila of Bangladesh. Of these, 63,705 are estimated to be new arrivals since October 2016.

An outbreak of violence on 10 April in Wau town has displaced an estimated 22,000-25,000 people from their homes.

DTM identified 55,753 IDP families comprised of 334,518 individuals. The majority of the identified individuals (299,418) originated from Mosul.

The cumulative total of IDPs recorded by DTM during this period was 433,962 individuals comprising 72,327 families. Of these 330,012 individuals (comprising 55,002 families) are still displaced. 196,452 people are currently residing in emergency camps.

A total of 63,000 individuals are reported to have returned to Sirte as of 19 April 2017. 150 IDP households were reported to have fled their homes due to clashes in Tamnhnt in the last two weeks.
