About

Displacement.iom.int is an IOM online platform designed to enhance access to Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) information products on internal displacement, including a visualization of the scale of displacement monitored by IOM. A second complementary platform by DTM, flow.iom.int, intends to visualise population flows. Each platform is designed to facilitate a better understanding of displacement and mobility trends within and between countries or regions.

Mobility tracking aims to quantify the presence of population categories within defined locations, with a frequency that captures mobility dynamics. Its approach is highly customizable: it can be light-touch or in-depth depending on the phase and requirements of the response, and it often increases in depth and detail over successive rounds. The online platform visualises mobility tracking data collected through baseline area assessments.

Baseline area assessments provide information on the presence of internally displaced populations in a defined administrative area, their reason and date of displacement and their shelter situation. Once a baseline or a list of locations hosting displaced populations has been identified, further location and/or site assessments are conducted to gather multi-layer and multi-themed data on the displaced groups. The objective of the location/site assessments is to collect in-depth data on the living conditions and needs of populations. This may include populations in camp and camp-like settings, or populations residing within host communities and/or areas of return of the observed population of concern.

This dashboard presents the variation in the number of IDPs between Rounds XXI and XXII in all assessed Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Northeast Nigeria.

The site assessments conducted during Nigeria's DTM Round XXII found that 82% of the assessed population are women and children (55% are female and 25% are children under 5 years of age). Almost half of the affected population (49%) have been previously displaced.

1,881,198 IDPs were identified during Round XXII in Nigeria. This document provides the list of wards assessed and the numbers of individuals and households identified in each, organised by State and Local Government Area (LGA).

DTM carried out assessments in displacement sites between 13 and 16 April 2018. This document contains maps of the displacement sites hosting IDPs displaced by the 2010 earthquake, including information on the number of displaced people in each site.

This dashboard contains the main findings obtained through the first round of DTM assessments that were conducted in the villages of the Kasai province. Data was collected from the 1st of April till the 20th of April 2018 within 214 health areas (aires de santé) and 12 health zones.

Following a 7.5 magnitude earthquake which hit the Highlands Region of Papua New Guinea (PNG) and affected an estimated 544,000 people in five provinces1, assessment teams visited 38 displacement sites2 in the Hela, Southern Highlands and Western Provinces of PNG between 10 – 27 March 2018.

The majhee block system represents an important aspect of communities within collective and/or camp-like settings where Rohinya refugees have settled.

The team conducted a biometric registration exercise in the Greater Mayom area from 21 January to 18 March 2018 covering ten different registration centres. The team processed a total of 137,538 individuals corresponding to 47,707 households.

DTM biometrically registered a total of 20,891 individuals (4,490 households) in Bor between 27 February and 14 March 2018. Of these, 93.6 per cent were from Bor South, 4.1 per cent from Twic East and 1.95 per cent from Duk.

This report of the Round XXII Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) assessment by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) aims to improve understanding of the scope of internal displacements, returns and the needs of affected populations in conflict-affected states of north-eastern Nigeria.

Over the reporting period, a slightly higher number of total of 317 entries were recorded compared to last week, but fitting within the general range seen over the past 10 weeks. No IDPs were recorded exiting any of the camps this past week.

Over the reporting period, a slightly lower number of 218 entries were recorded compared to last week, and 44 exits were recorded – the highest number of exits since MTT started recording data 11 weeks ago.

This week saw reversals of two longstanding trends. 45 IDPs were recorded arriving in Baidoa this week, which is the lowest number of entries reported since the inception of the MTT activities in June 2017.

This week in Baidoa there were 92 new arrivals who reported in the three main check points of the town. This shows an increase as compared with last week’s data which was 45 new arrivals. Nonetheless, the last two weeks' new arrivals are far less than the trends seen in previous months.

A total of 11 entries and 2 exits were recorded in both Qansaxley and Kabasa IDP camps in Dolow. The number of entries on this week were far lower than previous weeks.

This week a total of 13 entries and 10 exits were recorded in both Qansaxley and Kabasa IDP camps. The 10 people leaving the sites represent the highest number of exits recorded in a single week since mid-January.

Within the period of 17 to 23 April 2018, a total of 5,410 movements were recorded, including 4,929 arrivals and 481 departures at locations in Askira/Uba, Bama, Biu, Chibok, Damboa, Demsa, Dikwa, Fufore, Girei, Gombi, Guzamala, Gwoza, Hawul, Hong, Jere, Kaga, Kala/Balge, Konduga, Kukawa, Madagal

IOM Bangladesh Needs and Population Monitoring (NPM) is part of the IOM’s global Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) programming. DTM is IOM’s information management system to track and monitor population displacement during crises.

Persons exiting PoC sites should not be seen as returnees as these population movements are often cyclical as opposed to permanent. Wau PoC AA site has witnessed relatively more inflows than exits over the three months (F.1&2).

Published on a bi-weekly basis, the Displacement Event Tracker reports on incidents related to IDPs, returnees and migrants, especially in regards to large population movement updates.

Persons exiting PoC sites should not be seen as returnees as these population movements are often cyclical as opposed to permanent. Malakal PoC site has witnessed disproportionally large inflows as opposed to exits over the last weeks.
