About

Displacement.iom.int is an IOM online platform designed to enhance access to Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) information products on internal displacement, including a visualization of the scale of displacement monitored by IOM. A second complementary platform by DTM, flow.iom.int, intends to visualise population flows. Each platform is designed to facilitate a better understanding of displacement and mobility trends within and between countries or regions.

Mobility tracking aims to quantify the presence of population categories within defined locations, with a frequency that captures mobility dynamics. Its approach is highly customizable: it can be light-touch or in-depth depending on the phase and requirements of the response, and it often increases in depth and detail over successive rounds. The online platform visualises mobility tracking data collected through baseline area assessments.

Baseline area assessments provide information on the presence of internally displaced populations in a defined administrative area, their reason and date of displacement and their shelter situation. Once a baseline or a list of locations hosting displaced populations has been identified, further location and/or site assessments are conducted to gather multi-layer and multi-themed data on the displaced groups. The objective of the location/site assessments is to collect in-depth data on the living conditions and needs of populations. This may include populations in camp and camp-like settings, or populations residing within host communities and/or areas of return of the observed population of concern.

Le dashboard DTM du mois de septembre 2018 couvre toutes les 18 provinces du Burundi.

The DTM Burundi dashboard for the month of September 2018 covers all 18 provinces of Burundi.

Currently, 3 strategically placed FMPs remain, where DTM teams monitor incoming and outgoing flows of IDPs, identify and register drought-affected IDP families, and provide newly arriving families with IDP cards to facilitate their registration for humanitarian assistance.

Within the period of 3-9 October 2018, a total of 2,431 movements were recorded, including 1,988 arrivals and 443 departures.

Following the earthquake that hit the Highlands region in February 2018, IOM deployed the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) to track human displacements, as well as identify humanitarian needs for those displaced from their community to care centres or displaced within their community. DTM data

Due to clashes between armed groups in Southern Tripoli between 26 August and 24 September, at least 5,270 families were displaced. Following the stop of hostilities on 24 September, more than 3,000 previously displaced households reportedly returned.

317 entries and 11 exitas were reported across all the checkpoints this week. The trend highlights a slight decrease on entries compared to last week. Few exits were recorded this week, the lowest number since March 2018.

24 entries and zero exits were recorded in Dolow IDP camps between 28 September and 4 October 2018. The number of entries decreased slightly compared to the previous week. The majority of the new arrivals cited food as their reason for displacement (60%) while the rest cited insecurity (40%).

Over the reporting period, a total number of 77 entries was recorded, which was lower than the number of entries recorded in the previous week. No exits were recorded between 28 September and 4 October 2018.

The role of IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) within the humanitarian drought response is to monitor inflows of IDPs arriving in Herat, identify and register only the newly arriving IDP caseload, and report/share the information with humanitarian partners to facilitate onward registration

IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) team mobilized to respond to critical levels of internal displacement, caused by what is being described as the worst drought in Afghanistan in decades.
