Compared to the height of displacement in July 2010, the total IDP population (individuals) this period shows a 66% decrease: from 1,500,000 in July 2010 to 520,000 in November 2011. Compared to the previous period (September 2011) a 6% decrease in population is observed: 550,560 IDP individuals in September 2011 compared to 519,164 IDP individuals in November 2011. The communes of Delmas and Tabarre report highest numbers of IDP households and individuals moving out for this period.

This is a list of 300 TSSU prioritized settlements based on number of families detailing unique site ID, district, Tehsil (sub-districts), Khoski, site name and number of families.

This report contains the analysis and findings of the Temporary Settlement Support Unit (TSSU) assessment. During the course of this survey, 2,572 temporary settlements were assessed, hosting approximately 86,638 households and 454,400 people. Based on secondary data it is estimated the TSSU covered between 50-75% of all temporary settlements (TS). 59% of TS are spontaneous. 75% of TS have no official camp management structure. 72% of site residents indicated they will need to remain in TS for more than 1 month, 33% more than 3 months. The largest concentration of TS are in Badin, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, Tharparkar, Umerkot and Shaheed Benazirabad.

2,547 temporary settlements were assessed, hosting approximately 174,500 households and 824,000 people. This sample represents a fraction of the total number of temporary settlements. As of September 27th, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had recorded some 3,261 formal camps and schools being used by displaced populations. This number may exclude many of the 57% of settlements surveyed by the TSSU which were spontaneous settlement sites. If spontaneous sites sites are included, the total number of sites could be close to 6,000. Planned tent sites represented 17% of the sites surveyed by the TSSU, collective centres 11% and others 13%. In Umerkhot, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas and Khaipur the proportion of spontaneous settlements is much higher than average.

The total displaced population in September 2011 has not changed substantially compared to the previous period, only a decrease of 9% is observed: 149,317 IDP households estimated in July 2011 compared to 135,961 reported in September 2011. When compared to the estimates in July 2010, a decrease of 62% is observed (IDP households). The communes of Delmas and Port‐au‐Prince report highest numbers of IDP households and individuals moving out from July 2011 to September 2011.

The total displaced population reported in July 2011 has not changed substantially compared to the estimates in May 2011. As of this assessment period, total IDP population figures have decreased by 6% compared to the figures reported in May 2011: 634,807 IDP individuals estimated in May 2011 compared to 594,811 reported in July 2011. The communes of Port-au-Prince and Carrefour continue to report highest numbers of IDP households and individuals moving out in July 2011, although in much lower numbers than was the case in May 2011 58% (87,261 households) continue to reside in 66 of the larger identified sites (sites hosting more than 500 households).

The total population reported in May 2011 has not changed substantially from figures released in the previous report. Only a 7% decrease has been observed. (Approximately 680,000 individuals in March compared to 634,000 individuals reported this period: a difference of approximately 46,000). Compared to the population reported in July 2010 (approximately 1,500,000 IDP individuals), total IDP figures have reduced by 59% (approximately 634,000 individuals remaining in IDP sites).

There is a steady downward trend in IDP population living in IDP sites, albeit at a slower pace when compared to previous reporting periods. Compared to the population reported in July 2010, total IDP figures (individuals) have reduced by 56%. A decrease of 16% from the figures reported in January 2011 (i.e. 810,000) can also be observed. For this period, the largest decreases in the IDP population are reported in the communes of Croix-Des-Bouquets, Delmas, and Port-Au-Prince.
