From September to  December 2014, a series of distinct, concurrent crises were recorded in several governorates causing a steady increase in the displaced population numbers. During this period, 39,226 families (estimated 235,256 individuals) have been displaced from eight governorates, contributing to 11% of the overall 2014 caseload.

From the beginning of January through 25 December 2014 the DTM identified 2,123,340 internally displaced individuals dispersed across 2,092 distinct locations in Iraq. Considering available information and DTM methodology, the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT) maintains 2.1 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) as a planning figure for the response. After reaching 2 million displaced individuals in November 2014, the IDP population has continued to rise as families flee their homes from continued violence in the Central and Central North region of Iraq. Of these populations, half a million individuals remain displaced from the first identified wave of displacement in 2014 following the outbreak of conflict in Anbar, thus nearing one year of displacement. Through the reporting period the DTM has tracked and identified an overall increase in displacement figures of 6,164 families (an estimated 36,984 individuals). Overall, a decrease of nearly 30,000 individuals was observed across the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), while an increase in displacement figures was observed across several governorates in the Central and Central North Region of Iraq, amounting to almost 70,000 individuals.

As of 14 December 2014, 389,281 IDPs in 60,232 households were identified in the first round of assessments. Of these IDPs, most (142,796) migrated from Adamawa, followed by 78,938 IDPs from Borno.  The dashboard includes a map of displacement severity by Local Government Area (LGA) and ward.

From the beginning of January through 25 November, 2014 the DTM verified 2,004,066 internally displaced individuals dispersed across 2,003 distinct locations in Iraq. The largest displaced population has been received in the governorate of Dahuk with 429,948 displaced individuals seeking refuge in the four districts of Amedi, Zarko, Sumel and Dahuk.

From the beginning of January through 9 November, 2014 DTM identified 328,086 families, corresponding to an estimated 1,968,516 internally displaced individuals, dispersed across 2,003 distinct locations across Iraq. Continued insecurity in the governorates of Kirkuk, Anbar, Salah al-Din, Diyala, and Ninewa, led to an increase in displaced populations over the previous reporting periods. In particular, from 1 September to 9 November 2014, 203,652 individuals have been displaced following several localized conflicts affecting the central north region of Iraq. This is a marked difference from previous displacement movement trends which were predominately generated by major military offensives occurring in one specific area.

From the beginning of January through to 26 October, 2014 the DTM identified 1,898,844 internally displaced individuals dispersed across 1,928 distinct locations in Iraq. As a result of continued large scale displacement in the governorates of Ninewa, Kirkuk and Anbar, Iraq has witnessed an increase in displaced populations over the last several reporting periods. From the end of September to October 26, the displaced population increased by 145,542 individuals. Diyala governorate witnessed waves of both displacement and return between 20 – 22 October 2014, as fighting broke out in the area of Qara Teppa, Kifri district in Diyala
