The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in cooperation with ACTED, in support of the World Food Programme (WFP) and other partners, conducted a biometric registration (BMR) exercise at Bor Protection of Civilians Site (Jonglei) from 13 to 15 September 2018. The team processed 2,506 individuals corresponding to 1,187 households. 1,914 out of these 2,506 persons (76%) were verified individuals already registered since September 2017 and 592 individuals were newly registered (F.1). The exercise will allow beneficiaries to access services and partners to allocate resources efficiently.
During this round of data collection, DTM has identified 1,920,456 internally displaced persons (320,076 families), dispersed across 18 governorates and 3,325 locations in Iraq. For the same period, DTM has also identified 4,028,694 returnees (671,449 families) across 1,479 locations in 8 governorates.
IOM Yemen’s weekly Situation Report for the week of 16—22 September 2018 highlights that 22.2 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance, while 2 million people are internally displaced.
This week there were 75 new arrivals and only 16 exits at the Baidoa checkpoints. The lowest figures recorded since March 2018 for exits and May 2018 for entry. Movements have decreased after the harvesting season came to an end and the hot season began hindering the movements of displaced persons across the regions. In general, since mid-July all movements in and out of Baidoa IDP sites have remained relatively low compared with previous months. Reasons for displacement into the IDP sites were wide ranging: insecurity (33%), seeking education opportunities (19%), food shortages (16%), seeking better services (15%), seeking healthcare facilities (12%) and joining the rest of the family (5%). All those leaving reported leaving to rejoin the rest of the families.
The DTM Rapid Response Site Assessment tool is designed to provide detailed information at site level for emergencies occuring outside the DTM Mobility Tracking data collection periods. Only collective sites were included in this assessment, as a result, the displacement situation in host communities is not reprisented in this report. IDP community leaders collaborated closely with IOM as key informants during the assessment with the aim to provide the humanitarian community with up-to-date information on the locations, needs and demographics of displaced populations.
