1,016,166 displaced individuals comprising 168,246 households in 388 displacement sites were identified in SOMALI region. These figuresrepresent a decrease of 75,044 in the total individuals (-6.88%) an decrease of 11,280 households (-6.28%) and an increase of 3 sites (0.78%) since round 12 July/August 2018. 59.54% sites opened in 2017 and 13.14% opened in 2018. Conflict was the primary cause of displacement for an estimated 65.45% of the displaced population.

The DTM Burundi dashboard for the month of October 2018 covers all 18 provinces of Burundi. The DTM has identified 147,086 internally displaced persons (IDPs) amidst 32,527 households. 75% of IDPs (110,460) were displaced as a result of natural disasters and 24% of IDPs (34,864) were displaced as a result of sociopolitical issues.
DTM assessments for Round 25 were conducted from 1 October to 20 October 2018 in 110 Local Government Areas (LGAs) or districts, in Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe states. Three additional wards were covered during this assessment, increasing the number of wards covered by the DTM from 804 to 807. Notably, 797 wards were covered during Round 23 assessments published in June 2018, showing a steady increase in coverage. Ten new wards were assessed during Round 25 while other seven wards could not be assessed, increasing the total number of wards assessed only slightly. Adamawa, Girei and Guyak saw an increase in number of wards assessed due to new displacements due to communal clashes and flooding. Bauchi also saw an increase in number of wards assessed in Itas/Gadau due to IDPs returning from their place of origin which they found to be inhospitable. In Gombe and Taraba, Yalmaltu/Deba and Yorrao, an increase by one ward each was observed in Round 25. In Yobe two additional wards were assessed, including Jebuwa ward which was discovered while conducting house-to-house registration. On the other hand, one ward was not assessed in Borno’s Nganzai LGA. Taraba, Lau and Takum LGAs witnessed a decrease in the number of assessed wards. Lastly, in Yobe, the LGAs that saw a decrease in the number of wards assessed included Tarmuwa and Nguru.
This information management product determines the status, locations, and needs of people affected by the ongoing conflict in Northeast Nigeria. As of 20 October 2018, the DTM has identified 2,026,602 IDPs (388,767 households) across Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe States. This represents an increase of 5 per cent (99,854 persons) from the previous DTM Round. The assessed number of IDPs has been on the increase since January 2018, indicating that displacements have continued due to the volatile situation on the ground, while number of returns from neighbouring regions into situations of secondary displacement have also been on the increase.

As the security situation remained calm during the reporting period, 250 families returned to their homes. 13 families are still displaced in Tajoura following the clashes in September, unable to return due to severe damage to their homes. An estimated 700 migrants arrived to Swani Bin Adam in October, most reportedly in transit to other locations. Approximately 950 individuals returned to their homes in Ain Zara as the security situation remained stable throughout October. Around 900 migrants arrived in Aljufra in October; reportedly, the majority arrived for seasonal work and in transit to other locations. Around 365 individuals returned to Derna in October as the security situation reportedly stabilized; reported needs include food, NFIs, medicine and protection.Around 3,925 individuals returned to their homes in Abu Slim, including some families in need of shelter and NFI assistance due to damage to their homes.Furthermore, an estimated 3,000 migrants also returned to Abu Slim following the end of hostilities. Around 170 Families returned to Tawergha, however not all of them are permanently staying there due to lack of basic services. An estimated 500 to 1,000 migrants arrived and transited during the reporting period. 15 individuals reportedly left Suq Alkhamis and arrived in Zliten; reported needs include food and clothing.

IOM uses the Emergency Tracking Tool to compile daily information from various partners including: local and international NGOs, and local and national authorities. Compilation is done through document review, as well as personal and/or phone interviews. From 23 October to 6 November 2018, IOM identified an increase of 1,454 households displaced from Al Hudaydah bringing the total number of displaced households to 75,840 (an estimated 532,830 individuals) forced to leave their homes since the escalation of conflict in early June. The largest increases have been seen in the Al Hudaydah and Abyan Governorates.
