From April to July 2018 a localized conflict in Gedeo and West Guji zones caused the displacement of an estimated 958,175 people. Between 1 to 13 February 2019, DTM's Rapid Responses Assessment (RRA) estimates that 619,071 individuals are still displaced across both zones, with 265,727 IDPs in Gedeo and 353,344 IDPs in West Guji. Of these, 524,584 IDPs are living in host communities (290,771 individuals in 97 communities in West Guji and 233,813 individuals in 143 communities in Gedeo) while 94,487 IDPs are living in collective sites (62,573 individuals in 47 sites in West Guji and 31,914 individuals in 13 sites in Gedeo).  

Localized conflict in Benishangul Gumuz region (BSG) and East and West Wollega zones of Oromia region beginning in the last week of September 2018 is believed to have displaced an estimated 191,752 individuals comprising 36,438  households. 36% of IDPs are in collective sites and 64% are in host communities. In BSG 14% of IDPs are in collective sites and 86% are in host communities. Bio Jiganfado woreda, believed to be hosting IDPs, was inaccessible due to ongoing conflict at the time of the assessment.

As of November 2018, DTM Yemen estimates that there are 3.6 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) (607,865 households) dispersed across all 22 governorates, the majority of whom were displaced due to conflict ongoing since March 2015. For the same period, the DTM identified an estimated 1.28 million IDP returnees (213,427 households) across 22 governorates.

The DTM Monthly Regional Update contains consolidated summary updates and highlights from DTM field operations. This document covers updates from the regional network of flow monitoring of migrants, as well as the tracking and monitoring of internal displacement in the countries. It is published on a monthly basis and covers the West and Central Africa Region.

Within the period of 25 February - 03 March 2019, a total of 1,611 movements were recorded, including 1,514 arrivals and 97 departures. Arrivals were recorded at locations in Askira/Uba, Bama, Chibok, Damboa, Dikwa, Gwoza, Jere, Konduga, Maiduguri, Mobbar and Ngala Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Borno state and locations in Demsa, Fufore, Maiha and Numan LGAs of Adamawa state. Departures were recorded at Askira/Uba LGA and Chibok of Borno state and Demsa, Maiha and Numan  LGAs of Adamawa state. ETT assessments identified the following movement triggers: ongoing conflict (57%), poor living conditions (18%), voluntary relocation (16%), fear of attacks (4%), improved security (4%), and military operations (1%).

The crisis currently affecting the Lake Chad Basin states results from a complex combination of factors, including conflict with Non-State Armed Groups, extreme poverty, underdevelopment and a changing climate, which together have triggered significant displacement of populations. As of 20 February 2019, Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria were hosting an estimated 4,385,852 affected individuals made up of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Refugees (both in- and out-of-camp), Returnees (Former IDPs and Returnees from abroad) and Third Country Nationals (TCNs). 80 per cent of the affected population (representing 3,506,407 individuals) were located in Nigeria, while 10 per cent resided in Cameroon (452,002 individuals), 6 per cent in Niger (248,887 individuals) and 4 per cent in Chad (178,556 individuals).
