Ce suivi des urgences a été realisé au Burundi pendant la semaine du 24 au 30 mars 2019. La DTM a identifié 867 personnes affectées réparties et 423 personnes déplacées.

From the 26th to the 31st of March, IOM in close coordination with the Government of Malawi through the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA), conducted multi sectoral location assessments in 64 displacement sites located in Chikwawa, Nsanje, Phalombe, and Zomba districts.

The DTM Monthly Regional Update contains consolidated summary updates and highlights from DTM field operations. This document covers updates from the regional network of flow monitoring of migrants, as well as the tracking and monitoring of internal displacement in the countries. It is published on a monthly basis and covers the West and Central Africa Region.

Since the beginning of March 2019, Malawi has experienced flooding and sustained heavy rain caused by the Tropical Cyclone Idai weather system. According to the Government of Malawi and humanitarian partners, there are 86,980 IDPs in 173 displacement sites in the affected districts.

Through Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs) installed on major routes connecting to Herat City, IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) has been monitoring inflows of drought-affected IDPs, since 9 September 2018. This report presents cumulative information as of 8 March 2019.

Within the period of 18 - 24 March 2019, a total of 2,833 movements were recorded, including 2,522 arrivals and 311 departures. Arrivals were recorded at locations in Askira/Uba, Bama, Chibok, Dikwa, Gwoza, Jere, Kaga, Konduga, Mobbar and Ngala Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Borno state and locations in Demsa, Fufore, Maiha and Numan LGAs of Adamawa state. Departures were recorded at Askira/Uba LGA of Borno state, Demsa, Fufore, Maiha and Numan LGAs of Adamawa state. ETT assessments identified the following movement triggers: voluntary relocation (17%), improved security (5%), ongoing conflict (54%), fear of attack (10%), military operation (2%) and poor living conditions (12%).

During Round 4 of Mobility Tracking (Nov-Dec 2018), 1,275,868 IDPs and 866,846 returnees were identified. 87% of counties and 59% of subareas were assessed. 33% of returnees in the assessed areas have arrived in their current location in 2018 20% of IDPs identified in Round 4 have been displaced during 2018

The Bentiu Protection of Civilian (PoC) site was established in December 2013. As of February 2019, 159,647 beneficiaries remained registered in the site. However, recognizing that there have been significant population changes since the last biometric registration, IOM-DTM conducts monthly headcounts to monitor changing dynamics and displacement trends. As per the February 2019 headcount, the population stands at 105,202 individuals (17,848 households). DTM have done a change in checkpoint for more than 1,400 individuals and there will be similar exercise in Rubkona and Guit Counties

Current population of Wau PoC AA: 13,630  individuals Wau Town features two PoC sites and five collective centres in which IOM-DTM conducts monthly headcounts to monitor changing population dynamics and displacement trends. In February 2019, the monthly count was held in Wau PoC AA site, as well as Cathedral, Nazareth, St. Joseph, Lokoloko and Masna collective centres. Throughout 2018 until February 2019, a steady decline in the Wau PoC AA site population was observed. Between January 2019 and February 2019, the Wau PoC AA population decreased by seven per cent - a reduction of 1,787 individuals.
