IOM’s biometric registration system has been active since 2014, with 838,652 beneficiaries active in its database to date. Since August 2018, IOM and the World Food Programme (WFP) are collaborating on the project "Enhancing targeted food distribution through biometric data management" seeking to contribute to increased food security throughout South Sudan.

Wau PoC AA: 13,042 individuals In August 2019, the monthly count was conducted in Cathedral, Nazareth, St. Joseph, Lokoloko and Masna collective centres where a total of 16,097 individuals were identified. Biometric registration was conducted in Wau PoC AA in August 2019 in which a total of 13,042 individuals were registered (a 1% increase over the previously provided figure in July, which was based on the fixing exercise and which missed some protection and complaint cases). This brings the population of all the six locations to 29,139, a 9% increase since July.

From the period 26 August – 1 September, a total of 2,748 movements were recorded, comprising of 729 arrivals and 2,019 departures. Arrivals were recorded at locations in Askira/Uba, Bama, Dikwa, Gwoza, Konduga, Maiduguri, Mobbar, Monguno and Ngala Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Borno state, and locations in Demsa, Fufore, Gombi, Madagali, Maiha, Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South, Numan, Song, Yola North and Yola South LGAs of Adamawa state. Departures were recorded in Askira/Uba, Bama, Chibok, Gubio, Gwoza, Kala/Balge, Maiduguri and Monguno LGAs of Borno state, locations in Fufore, Girei, Gombi, Hong, Maiha, Michika, Mubi North, Numan, Yola North and Yola South LGAs of Adamawa state. ETT assessments identified the following movement triggers: improved security (64%), voluntary relocation (21%), poor living conditions (11%), conflict/attack (3%), fear of attack (1%) and military operations (1%).

In response to the need for up-to-date and reliable information on the conditions of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Cabo Delgado and Nampula due to the impact of the Cyclone Kenneth, the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) was activated in April 2019 in Cabo Delgado and Nampula provinces and carried out by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with the National Institute for Disaster Management (INGC). The data in this report was collected between 20 and 26 August 2019 and reflects a variety of information on the displaced populations in the cyclone Kenneth affected areas including numbers and locations of displaced persons, demographic data on these populations, period of displacement and relevant multisectoral needs. The report provides detailed information on data collected in displacement sites and localities with IDPs in the provinces of Cabo Delgado and Nampula. Detailed site profiles are also available. All individuals identified in this DTM round are IDPs.​

Tropical Cyclone Kenneth made landfall in north Mozambique the night of 25 April 2019. On 26 August 2019, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in coordination with the Government of Mozambique through National Institute for Disaster Risk Management (INGC), carried out the fifth round of site assessments in five sites: Tratara Resettlement Site, Chuiba Transitional Centre, Machicale Resettlement Site, Mazuale Resettlement Site, and Chabala 2 Resettlement Site.

The purpose of the Emergency Tracking Tool is to gather information on large and sudden movements of populations. The information is collected through interviews with key informants or direct observations. This report presents presents key facts about a movement that took place from 9 to 12  August 2019 in Sila Province.

This report is based on data collected through DTM’s Comprehensive Migration Flows Surveys (CMFS) in 2016, methodology that aims to enable a better understanding of migration flows from Afghanistan towards Europe. The report focuses on Afghan potential migrants and is divided into five main sections covering socio-demographic profile, social networks in Europe, reasons and drivers for migration, migration facilitators and expected challenges of migration.

The Pakistan migration snapshot provides an overview of migration trends in, to and from Pakistan. Based on a literature review and primary data collection carried by IOM teams, this migration snapshot covers a) Voluntary labour migration; b) Forced migration in the forms of refugee movements and internal displacement, c) Internal migration, d) Irregular migration (human trafficking and migrant smuggling) and e) migration laws, policies and stakeholders.
