It is published on a monthly basis and covers East and Horn of Africa.

Detention Centre Profiling is a component of IOM Libya’s Displacement Matrix programme. It is a data oriented tool that routinely provides specific sex and age demographic data and key sectorial information on individuals held in Libya’s detention Centres on the date of assessment.

In response to the need for up-to-date and reliable information on the conditions of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Cabo Delgado and Nampula due to the impact of the Cyclone Kenneth, the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) was activated in April 2019 in Cabo Delgado and Nampula provinces and carried out by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with the National Institute for Disaster Management (INGC).  The data in this report was collected between 29 September and 04 October 2019 and reflects a variety of information on the displaced populations in the cyclone Kenneth affected areas including numbers and locations of displaced persons, demographic data on these populations, period of displacement and relevant multisectoral needs. The report provides detailed information on data collected in displacement sites and localities with IDPs in the provinces of Cabo Delgado and Nampula.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in coordination with the Government of Mozambique through National Institute for Disaster Risk Management (INGC), carried out the sixth round of site assessments in five open sites: Tratara Resettlement Site, Chuiba Transit Centre, Mascane Resettlement Site, Mazuane Resettlement Site, Chapala 2 Resettlement Site.

From 02 to 06 October, in close coordination with Mozambique’s National Institute for Disaster Management (INGC), IOM DTM (Displacement Tracking Matrix) teams conducted baseline assessments at locality level (localidade), which corresponds to the lowest administrative level in the country. The second round covered 26 districts in Sofala, Manica, Tete and Zambezia provinces. The DTM teams interviewed locality chiefs capturing population estimates and geographic distribution, population movements, shelter repairs and access to services in host communities.

The DTM was first introduced in Sudan in 2004, to provide rapid emergency registrations with a priority of meeting immediate information needs for guiding direct assistance to vulnerable people. Since 2010, the DTM expanded to include biometric registrations and data verifications – implemented in response to government or humanitarian partner requests. To date, data has been collected in 7 different states and 1,534 locations across Sudan, generating accumulative registration figures on the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees at the state, locality and locational levels. The DTM’s baseline zero is a compilation of all verified data registrations for both IDPs and returnees, commencing in 2010 and 2015 respectively.

From the period 7 – 13 October 2019, a total of 1,137 movements were recorded, which were composed of 856 arrivals and 281 departures.

The North-west and North-central Nigeria have experienced increased instances of hostilities recently, including banditry, cattle rustling and kidnapping etc. The attacks have led to a series of displacement lately. The security situation remains fragile despite efforts by the government and security units to restore peace and stability in all parts of the affected states. Based on information gathered by DTM staff in Zamfara, there have been reports of attacks within villages near the border, with many of the villagers moving out of the affected locations to nearby villages. Between the 2nd and 12th of October, attacks led to large movements of people to different locations in other LGAs within and outside the states in North-west and North-central regions.
